Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need to Arrive Early for My First Appointment?
Arrive as early as you can. We will do our best to complete your paperwork and intake process as quickly as possible, but we ask for patients to give us a minimum of 30 minutes each time they come in.
What Should I Do If I Require Premedication?
Please let the practice know 48 hours prior to your appointment, so you can receive your premedication. If you are bringing your medication with you, please have it in the original bottle(s) to ensure correct dosage.
What Do I Bring to My First Appointment?
You should bring your insurance card or picture ID. You may also want to bring a list of your current medications to your first visit.
Are Dental Visits Really Necessary?
They are not required, but they are recommended. Seeing the dentist regularly can prevent many more critical issues from arising in your mouth, and is essential for the general health of your teeth and gums.
How Often Should I Come In?
We ask that you come in every 6 months for an exam and cleaning. We also recommend that you come in every year for a complete oral examination. If you have specific concerns about your teeth and gums, we recommend coming in more frequently.
What Happens If You Never Visit A Dentist?
There are specific diseases that you may be at risk for if you choose not to visit the dentist. Many people think that seeing a dentist is purely cosmetic, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Your teeth are affected by everything inside your body, including medications, sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease, pregnancy , and many other factors.
How Long Can You Go Without A Dental Cleaning?
We recommend that you come in every 6 months for a dental cleaning, but we understand that some circumstances may prevent you from being able to do so. The longer you go without seeing us, the more likely it is for calculus (tartar) to build up on your teeth, eventually leading to tooth decay and gum disease.
At What Age Should My Child First See a Dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child sees a dental professional by his or her 1st birthday. If possible, bring them in before they have their first tooth come in to get an idea of what the process will be like.
What Is Your Continuing Education Policy?
We routinely attend continuing education courses on a monthly basis. We also have annual conferences to keep up with the changing information in our fields. If you have any questions about what we learned at a specific conference, please don’t hesitate to ask us!
Do I Need Any Dental Treatments?
You should come in every 6 months for a checkup, but you are welcome to call or book online if you have any concerns about your teeth. We recommend that patients with specific concerns schedule an appointment immediately.
What Happens After I've Had Dental Treatment?
After any procedures, it is important to follow the instructions given by our team members. Please keep all appointments scheduled with the office to ensure that your procedure goes as planned.
Is There Anything Else I Need to Know?
We will do our best to make sure that your experience with us is as easy and painless as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know during your visit. We look forward to seeing you soon!
